Vasily Kandinsky is a Russian born French painter and art theorist. Kandinsky, along with pier Mondrian and Malevich, is regarded as the pioneer of abstract art, but there is no doubt that Kandinsky is the most famous. He also co founded with others a short but influential art group, the blue knight. Kandinsky's paintings sold for nearly 15 million dollars. The Solomon Guggenheim Museum is one of Kandinsky's largest collectors.
Vasily Kandinsky is one of the great figures of modern art, and also the founder of modern abstract art in theory and practice. His theses on the spirit of art in 1911, on the problem of form in 1912, point, line to surface in 1923, and on concrete art in 1938 are all classic works of abstract art and the inspiration of modern abstract art.
