Raccoon is a mammalian carnivorous raccoon of the family raccoon. From North America, it is named raccoon because it washes food in water before eating. There are seven species of raccoon. The model species is found in North America and Central America. Crab eating raccoon is found in Costa Rica to northern South America. The remaining five species are found on various islands.
Raccoons are between 42 and 60 cm in length. Their feet are well developed. They often prey and eat with their forepaws, which are almost as flexible as monkeys. Raccoons often put their food in the water to wash away the sediment, hence the name "raccoon".
